History Of Vaughan

When the Huron-Wendat people populated what is today’s Vaughan in the 16th century, they lived on top of an ancient settlement overlooking the east branch of Humber River (Pine Valley Drive). The site has been identified as one kilometer north of Seed – Barker Road where sea many mass graves were found containing human bones which show that this area was used by both Canadian natives before European colonization took place.

Though it was not until 1792 that European colonization began in earnest, Vaughan had been settled for centuries before by Native Canadians. The first explorer to pass through this region was French Captain Étienne Brûlé who trekked along what would become known as the Humber Trail from Montreal towards York Factory on Lake Ontario.

The town grew slowly over time due primarily because there being no roads linking them together which made travel difficult if not impossible. It wasn’t until 1805 when official notice of these settlements reached England – after an absence lasting more than 150 years!

The first people to arrive in Vaughan were mainly Pennsylvania Germans, with a smaller number of families from England and France. This migration happened by 1814 when it was replaced by another wave that brought skilled labor for the cotton mills; these workers came primarily from Ireland but also included many other European countries.

The population grew steadily throughout its history up until 1840 when there are an estimated 5 thousand souls living within what would become known as “the Township.” After this point too gained momentum following conjunction efforts between local businesses/firms along Lake Ontario shorelines which created jobs opportunities outside provincial cities.

Geography Of Vaughan

Vaughan is an inner-city Toronto neighborhood that was previously known for its role in the coal mining industry. Nowadays you’ll find it more on top of things with all sorts of businesses catering to residents’ needs like grocery stores, cafes, and even hospitals! One thing’s not changed though – this area still borders many different municipalities which means there are plenty of opportunities should anything go wrong or if new developments arise. Vaughan has always had strong links geographically to Caledon, King City & Richmond Hill.

The city is a patchwork of historic communities with nearly a dozen growing neighborhoods. It seems residents have difficulty identifying with just one community and instead identify more as part-time residents or even visitors to the area, who largely come into contact through business ventures rather than personal ties. The population in this region has grown tremendously over time–the City officially designates five urban areas that make up its metropolitan space.

Vaughan Metropolitan Centre

From four historic communities to a new town, the Metropolitan Centre is an area that has been held true for decades. The site of Highway 7 and Jane Street will soon become home not only for those who live in Vaughan but also anyone driving through on their way from Toronto as it’s right off Interprovincial bridges into Pickering or UP Express Train Station to Milton.”

In 1998, when Official Plan Amendment 500 was passed calling for the construction of a new business center in Vaughan called “Corporate Centre” it became clear that this would not only bring more jobs but also be an important focal point for commercial activity within their city.

The Vaughan Metropolitan Centre subway station is the northwestern terminus of Line 1 Yonge–University, which means it’s also a major transit hub for York Region Transit (YRT) and Viva bus rapid transit services.
